The Plain Dealer reports that a shortage in natural gas this winter isn’t likely, thanks to the shale gas industry.

Storage levels are considered to be low currently, but shale gas feeding into the natural gas reserves daily determines how much is available for use. Natural gas prices may rise this winter, depending on how much gas is stored in the reserves.

Weather conditions related to El Nino, hurricanes or an early, cold winter could all play a factor in the price of natural gas.

From The Plain Dealer:

“Despite earlier dire predictions of gas shortages this fall because last winter was so cold that by April 1 gas storage reserves had fallen to record low levels, the experts now think there will be a healthy amount of gas in storage by Nov. 1.”
