In this week's commentary, Editor Susan Crowell comments on the conversations about today's youth, about local communities and local opportunities, about the future that have been triggered by the centennial celebration of 4-H.

4-H, which began in 1902, is a combination of the efforts of people concerned about young people and its early history is an example of its cooperative nature.

Last year, nearly 7,000 wild horses and burros were adopted. Still, the Bureau of Land Management needs more families willing to adopt. Four now have a home at Stoney Hollow Farm near Lisbon, Ohio.
