Hello Again!
The 2008 farm bill was passed late, and because of that, we are late signing producers up for the 2008 DCP (Direct and Counter Cyclical Payment) Program.
Typically, many of you would have signed up in the fall of 2007, or early spring of 2008, to get your advance payment. Due to the late passing of the bill, we did not even begin 2008 DCP signup until July of 2008, very late.
Because of this, we are concerned that many of you may think you already signed up last fall, or in the early spring as usual, which is not the case this year.
Several producers have not been into our offices to sign up yet. As a reminder, signup for this 2008 DCP program ends Sept. 30. No late contracts can be accepted, and there is no late filing procedure.
If you are unsure of whether you signed up or not, please call your local office to double check. Better to be safe than sorry.
