Hazard A Guess: Week of June 13, 2002

Hello from Hazard!

There was only one brave respondent from several weeks of Item No. 650. Unfortunately, the guess didn’t agree with what reader Donald Hiet of New Springfield said his hazard-ous item is.

Hiet claims Item No. 650 was a very early barroom lemon squeezer. Engraving on the gadget bears the words, “The Little Giant.”

This week’s new Hazard a Guess mystery comes from Ruth and Ted Anielski of Killbuck, Ohio. Well, actually it comes from their son, Jonathan, who lives in Walton Hills, Ohio. “He brought this to us asking, ‘What is it?’ We didn’t know, but we knew where to find out!” Ruth writes.

They’re hoping a reader will recognize the tool and tell everyone what it was used for – and that’s what we’re hoping for, too.

If you know what it is, please send your answer to: Hazard a Guess, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460; or via e-mail to: editorial@farmanddairy.com.
