Ashland County buyers support 4-H’ers

ASHLAND, Ohio – Buyers turned out in force to show their support for the junior fair livestock exhibitors during the 2002 Ashland County Junior Fair Livestock Auction.

Bill Harris Auto Dealerships continued their support by bidding $4.10 a pound for Bill Keener’s 1,333-pound champion market steer, while Hammett Asphalt and Paving bid $3 a pound for Cory Boliantz’s 1,236-pound reserve champion market steer.

Boliantz’s steer was also the champion Ashland County Champion Bred and Raised Steer.

J. C Meyer Realty bid $1 a pound for Dustin White’s 1,429-pound champion dairy steer while Colette Eichelberger’s 1,342-pound reserve champion dairy steer was purchased by Crestview Buyer’s Club for $1.

Tennett Family Show Supplies bid $1.25 a pound for J R Keener’s 1,220-pound reserve champion Ashland County Bred and Raised Steer.

Morris Sign Studio bid $7.25 a pound for the 1,353-pound champion baby beef steer while Bill Harris Dealership bid $3.50 a pound for Ashley Hawley’s 1,302-reserve champion baby beef steer.

Hogs, lambs. Stephen Torski bid $15 a pound for Tiffany Snyder’s 138-pound champion market Iamb while Stitzlein Club Lambs bid $7 a pound for Jake White’s 136-pound reserve champion market Iamb.

Jared Wynn’s 239-pound champion market hog was purchased by Kalmbach Feeds, Santmyer Oil and Smetz’s Tires for $10 a pound while Aaron White’s 249-pound reserve champion market hog was purchased for $3 a pound by Stephen Torski.

Goats. Ashland Crop Service and Wesner Seeds bid $4.50 a pound for Jeff Stitzlein’s 111-pound champion meat market goat while Jordan Brown’s 108-pound reserve champion meat market goat was purchased for $3.50 by Classy Chassis.

Adam Crist sold his 81-pound champion dairy market goat to Stephen Torski while Money Now bid $3 a pound for Jason Nowakowski’s 81-pound reserve champion dairy market goat.

Broilers, rabbits. Amanda Brandt’s champion pen of broilers was purchased by Buffalo Wild Wings for $375 while Lindsey Raubenolt’s reserve champion pen of broilers was purchased by Reisinger Hay and Straw for $225.

Aber Truck Center bid $625 for Nicole Turner’s champion pen of meat rabbits, and Stephen Torski bid $475 for Melanie Fitch’s reserve champion pen of meat rabbits.

Emily Bennett sold her champion turkey for $675 while Carrie Ayers sold her reserve champion turkey to Mapleton FFA Alumni for $425.
