Auctioneer Richard L. Fowler died Nov. 5

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Richard L. Fowler, 61, of Divelbiss Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Nov. 5 at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1941 in Mount Vernon to the late Floyd and Lena (Buskirk) Fowler. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Fowler was a member of the Mount Vernon Grace Brethren Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and a 1967 graduate of the Reppart Auction School of Decatur, Ind. Fowler had been a licensed auctioneer since the age of 16 and had been a real estate agent and broker for over 35 years. He was employed by the N.E.R. and COPART Auto Auction in Hammond and Indianapolis, Ind.; Lawrenceburg, Ky. and Columbus, Ohio.

Locally, Fowler served as auctioneer at Producers Livestock for 34 years and covered the state with other livestock auctions. Fowler was a Morris Township trustee for 12 years.               

He is survived by his fiancé Jo Miller, two sons, Darren (Connie) Kessler, Matthew L. (Heather M.) Fowler both of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Alisha and Devin Kessler and Gionna Marie Fowler; and a brother Harold Roger Fowler of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
