Christmas walk features church, homes, museum

GARRETTSVILLE, Ohio – The James A. Garfield Historical Society in Portage County, Ohio, will host its 2002 Christmas Walk Nov. 1-3, 8-10.

Hours Fridays and Saturdays are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays are 12:30-5 p.m.

Donations are $8 and babies are free.

Tickets will be sold at the Historical Society museum, 8107 Main St., Garrettsville, Ohio.

A limited number of reservations will be taken for the preview Candlelight Tour Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m.

Candlelight tickets are $18. Hors d’oeuvres and a homemade Christmas ornament are included.

Featured this year are four private residences, a church, a juried craft show and sale, and the society’s Mott Drugstore museum.

Homes are listed on the tour map, but visitors can arrange their own travel routes to the designated locations, and be guided by green Christmas tree signs.

Lunch will be served at the United Church of Garrettsville’s Fellowship Hall, with chili, vegetable and potato soups, along with sloppy joes, hot dogs and sandwiches.
