Conference looks at women of Appalachia

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Ohio University-Zanesville’s fourth annual conference, “The Women of Appalachia, Their Heritage and Accomplishments,” runs Oct. 24 to 26 at the Zanesville Campus Center.

The national conference brings together scholars and practitioners from around the country to discuss elements of the Appalachian culture important to the understanding and advancement of the status of women from the region.

Though the conference focuses on the historic, literary and anthropological point of view, discussions of religion and the reflection of the culture in art will also take place.

Registration for the conference is open until Oct. 24, and a complete schedule of conference events is available on the Web at www.zanesville.ohiou.edu/ce/wac/appalwomen.htm.
