BELMONT, Ohio — The Belmont County 4-H Horse Committee met Feb. 18. Elections were held and officers are: Jeff Kinsey, president; Dave Kuckuck, vice president; Jeanne Shaw, secretary; Becky Elizeus, treasurer; Jeanne Shaw, point secretary.

The next meeting is set for March 13 at 6 p.m. at the Belmont County Extension office.

The arena committee is planning its second annual Tack Swap Farm and Home Flea Market April 26 at the Belmont Co. Fairgrounds. Chicken dinners will be available for $10 each. Tickets will be sold in advance and at the door. To reserve a spot contact Jeanne Shaw at 740-296-0067.

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Country Folks-Country Barbwires 4-H clubs installed officers.

Country Folks officers are: Dean Rummell, president; Sheridan Rummell, vice president; Amber Buzaki, secretary; Sam Morrow, treasurer; Hannah Gross, health; Kristy Hoffman, safety; Abby Flounder and Katie Hudnell, recreation; and Shnaiah Thomas, reporter.

The Country Barbwires officers are: Ashley Royer, president; Jacob Conrad, vice president; Sarah Weisent, secretary; Nicole Cook, treasurer; Carter Evans, reporter; Colton Kerns, health; Cody Cook, safety; Eilidh Hatherill and Aleah Hall, recreation; and Claire Morrow, community services officer for both clubs.

Officers were installed by Stark County agent David Cawford.

Members are selling Joe Corbi’s pizza and cookie dough. Contact any members by March 12.

The 4-H steak supper will be April 5 at Nimishillen Grange. A Q and A will be held March 22 at the Washington Township Fire Station.

The next meeting will be March 17 at Beechwood U.M.C. Church.

BURTON, Ohio — Geauga Beef and Swine 4-H club had a meeting Feb. 9. The club made a food basket for a family in need with three small children. The club also collected and gave food to the Geauga Hunger Task Force food drive and donated $200 to a 17-year-old girl who was in a sledding accident.

The club agreed to do a window display at Mapledale for 4-H week. The club bought a scale to keep track of the pig’s weight.

The next meeting will be March 9 at pizza hut at 3 p.m.

BURTON, Ohio — This month the Geauga Dairymen 4-H club painted the window of a business in Chardon to promote National 4-H week March 3-9. The group gained a new club member, Nick Auth. After painting the window, they held their meeting at Pizza Hut where they elected 2014 officers: Dominic Ferrante- President, Maddi Johnson- Vice President, Lizzy Knoop- Secretary, Vincent Ferrante- Treasurer, Garrett Hastings- News Reporter, Travis Johnson and Nick Ricci- Recreation, Paul Ricci- Health, and Mark Auth- Safety.

Minutes from the last meeting and a treasurer report were reviewed and approved. The club discussed the quantity of candy bars we could sell as part of the county 4-H fundraiser.

The group reviewed possibly touring a Maple Sugar Farm as a club during Maple Madness.

Club Advisor Emma distributed a 2014 club calendar, member list and the Hoard’s Dairymen judging contest information.

The next meeting will be held in March. If anyone is interested in joining Geauga Dairyman they are encouraged to contact Emma Niehus at 440-221-3812.

MONTVILLE, Ohio — Thompson Ledge Dairymen met Feb. 22 for its first annual meeting of the year.

Committee members voted in are: Brian, president; Lucas, vice president; Ben, secretary; Kalli, treasurer; Matthew, news reporter; Suzy, safety; and Joshua, health.

Groups started planning their year, including decorating the window at Robinson tractor, in Thompson. They are studying for quality assurance.
