PENINSULA, Ohio – Accompany Union reinforcements of the 8th Ohio Volunteer Infantry reenactors group as they head south aboard Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad to meet their fellow troops for the battle at Hale Farm and Village.
The event, called “Dawn’s Early Light,” will be held Aug. 10.
Learn about the soldiers that were reinforcements for Meade’s forces at Gettysburg.
After enjoying a buffet breakfast in the troops’ camp, you’ll become a part of a living history presentation as Union and Confederate forces battle amidst the scenic landscape of Hale Farm & Village.
The reenactment allows you a firsthand look at the camps, gear, recreation activities and lifestyle of the soldiers and civilians who participated in the Civil War.
The train will depart from the Brecksville Station, located off Riverview Road just south off of State Route 82 on Station Road, at 8:10 a.m.
The day’s activities will include arrival at Hale Farm and Village at 8:45 a.m., with the buffet breakfast in the troop’s camp at 9:30 a.m. Guests will then have an opportunity to tour the grounds.
The Civil War reenactment is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Following the Civil War reenactment, participants will be transported back to their cars by Akron Metro RTA.
Cost of this event is: Adults: $40, Seniors: $35, Children: $25.
Admission includes: One-way train ride to Hale Farm and Village, Admission into Hale Farm and Village and the Civil War reenactment, buffet breakfast in the troops’ camp and transportation by Akron Metro RTA back to the Brecksville Station.
