Midwest ox drovers to gather in Michigan

SCOTTS, Mich. – The Midwest Ox Drovers Association’s annual gathering will be June 23-25 at Tillers International in Scotts, Mich. The gathering is free and open to the public.
The event beings June 23 with a group workshop where participants will building a stoneboat. A campfire social will follow.
Oxen at work. On June 24, oxen of various breeds and ages will perform farm and field work, including plowing, cultivating and hay making, plus advanced skills in competition courses.
June 25 will feature a Parade of Breeds and Ox Walk Wagon Train tour of Tillers’ grounds. The event concludes with a drawing for the first place raffle prize, a pair of started calves with yoke or $200.
Free primitive camping and reasonably priced meals are available.
Tickets. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds benefit the association. Participants do not need to be present to win. Contact Bev Zimmer at 937-692-5284 to purchase tickets.
