BURTON, Ohio — A $20,000 grant has been secured for the creation of the Ohio Maple Museum and Century Village Sugarhouse in Burton, Ohio.

The Ohio Maple Producers Association, Ohio State University Extension, maple producers from across Ohio, and Century Village have come together to create Ohio’s first maple museum.

The purpose of the Ohio Maple Museum will be to educate the public on all things maple. The museum will display maple artifacts and showcase the place Ohio plays in the maple industry.

Education

The focus of the Ohio Maple Museum will be to educate people on the maple process and how clear, sweet sap from the maple tree becomes golden maple syrup.

The Ohio Maple Producers Association has donated $2,000 to the project to create an Ohio Maple Hall Of Fame.

Once the museum is in place, it will serve as the cornerstone of such events and a clearinghouse to provide accurate maple information.

To be a part of this project, e-mail the Ohio Maple Museum or call Century Village at 440-834-1492.
