Pa.’s dairy development program grows

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pa. Department of Agriculture is expanding its Dairy Profit Team Program, carried out through the department’s Center for Dairy Excellence.
“Representing 42 percent of agriculture, the dairy industry is a vital segment of Pennsylvania’s economy,” said Pa. Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff.
Profit teams. The concept is designed to help improve the success of dairy farms by focusing on production and operational finances.
In 2004, the pilot began with 10 teams. This spring, the center added 17 farms to the program with the goal of adding 40 farms per year through 2008.
