AKRON – For those in northeast Ohio who make the Wonderful World of Ohio Mart at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens a holiday shopping tradition, this year features more of the time-honored favorites.
For the past 36 years, the fall festival has featured handmade arts and crafts, food options and a variety of entertainment choices for children and adults with a Renaissance theme.
The Wonderful World of Ohio Mart will be held Oct. 3-6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Arts and crafts. More than 100 exhibitors will display handmade works of art, including 20 new vendors.
A peaked tent that spans half an acre shelters rows and rows of artisans’ booths displaying such items as framed photography, metal sculptures, clothing, stained and fused glass designs, polymer clay ornaments, handcrafted baskets and pottery.
Renaissance theme. To maintain the Renaissance theme, exhibitors are required to dress in costume.
Festival favorites include the gingerbread tent where members of the auxiliary board sell gingerbread cookies and the bakery tent which features baked goods by Osman’s.
Renaissance entertainment is popular with both children and adults, and the Society of Creative Anachronism helps to relive Renaissance times during the event.
Interactive displays, exhibits and archery demonstrations are set up Oct. 5 and 6.
Admission. Adult admission is $6. Children ages 6-12 are admitted for $2. Free off-site parking is available daily and paid parking is offered to a limited number of cars.
Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is located at 714 N. Portage Path in Akron.
