Stark SWCD plans annual meeting and elections

MASSILLON, Ohio — The board of supervisors of the Stark Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its annual meeting and banquet Nov. 17 at the RG Drage Career Center in Massillon, Ohio.

The meeting this year will be a breakfast featuring eggs, potatoes, bacon, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee and juice. Tickets are $8 each. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. followed by a short presentation of District highlights and awards.

Conservation Farmer and Conservation Educator of the year awards will be presented to Stark County residents who have made significant contributions to the conservation of our natural resources.

Deadline

Call 330-830- 7700, ext. 103 to reserve your seat. Deadline for reservations is Nov. 11.

In addition, the Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will have an election of supervisors of the Stark Soil and Water Conservation District. Three candidates will be vying for two positions on the board.

Candidates are Scott Briggs, Jim Halter and Greg Mencer. Candidates’ information is available on the Stark SWCD website.

Residents or landowners, firms and corporations that own land or occupy land in Stark County and are 18 years of age and older may vote for supervisor. A non-resident landowner, firm or corporation must provide an affidavit of eligibility, which includes designation of a voting representative, prior to casting a ballot.

Voting

There are three ways an eligible voter can cast a ballot:

1. At the Annual Meeting and Banquet Nov. 17th at RG Drage Career Center from 8-9:30 am.

2. In person at the Stark SWCD office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until Nov. 16.

3. Absentee voting by requesting the proper forms. The absentee request form is posted at www.starkswcd.org and is available at the Stark SWCD office during normal office hours.

Absentee Request forms will be available from Oct. 27 through Nov. 11. All absentee ballots must be returned to the Stark SWCD office by close of business Nov. 16.
