Support means a lot

Editor;

My husband, son and I would like to thank everyone who helped us through our terrible ordeal involving the attack on our cattle last summer. The many phone calls, letters, support and sympathy have been greatly appreciated. Your kind words and offers of help meant so much to us. We never imagined this would affect so many people.

“Our girls” are born and raised here. We have worked with them since birth and up until several months ago, they trusted us and knew they were safe. That changed in one night.

Physically, they have healed; mentally, it’s a completely different story. They are still nervous and sudden movement or noises can easily agitate them. This is so upsetting to us because these cows are our extended family. They have names and personalities; they are grandmothers, mothers, aunts and nieces to each other.

We have watched them grow from newborn calves to healthy, happy cows and when we saw the condition they were in last summer and now, it’s very heartbreaking. I don’t know if we or our girls will ever feel safe again.

We hope the legal system will do the right thing and punish the ones who are found guilty of this crime. We will find out Jan. 11, 2002.

Thank you again to everyone who has helped us in whatever way you did. We and the girls are very grateful.
