SALEM, Ohio — John Charles DeCort, 64, of Salem, died Feb. 25, 2016, at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
He was born Feb. 22, 1952, in Salem, the son of the late Joseph J. and A. Ruth (Russell) DeCort.
He was working with his brother, at JD2, LLC (at Salem Drag Strip).
He is survived by his wife, the former Susan Lynn Cubbage; his children, Jennifer Ann Schaefer and Jayne Lynn DeCort, all of Salem; three grandchildren; siblings Joseph James DeCort Jr. of Illionis, and Jeffery Phillip DeCort of Lisbon.
He was a member of the NHRA and IHRA, a runner-up in the 1988 IHRA Spring Nationals and a 2006 Supercharged Warriors Champion.
Services were held March 2, at the Greenford Lutheran Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Mike Knauff officiated.
Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery, in Salem. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
