BELOIT, Ohio — With today’s strong grain market, you want to be sure your grain facilities and handling equipment is protecting that investment.

That’s where K&S Millwrights can help.

K&S Millwrights, located at 1422 Knox School Road, Beloit, specializes in commercial and on-farm grain drying and storage facilities, including feed mills, soybean meal processing, and dog food manufacturing.

New design, or a revamp

“We can help you custom design grain handling and drying facilities for your location, from a tower dryer or a grain bin with stirring machine, Hutchinson transport auger or grain dump pit with a grain elevator,” said Gary Irwin.

Irwin, who joined K&S in 1996, bought the company in May from its founder Kurt and Diane Klingelhofer.

K&S can also develop a plan to revamp an old grain facility, or design and build a complete new grain handling/drying/storage/shipping operation.

K&S has a full inventory of parts on hand, including items for augers, spouting, motors, transport augers, or parts. The company also is a dealer for Sukup Manufacturing, Sweet Manufacturing, Hutchinson, and Baldor motors.

History

Founded in 1978 by Kurt Klingelhofer, the company was incorporated as K&S Millwrights, Inc. in 1997, and moved to its current location on Knox School Road in 2003.

For more than 35 years, Klingelhofer built a solid customer base.

Irwin, who bought the company with his wife, Stacy, started with K&S in 1996, and, after working in the field for 10 years as a millwight and supervisor, he was brought into the office. His main role was to quote projects, supervise crews and organized the day-to-day operation of the company.

K&S will remain at the same location, Irwin said, and Klingelhofer has not retired, but will continue to work in the company as a job supervisor, although the change will let him get away for his other passion, traveling on mission trips around the world.

The two continue to work closely, improving and building the business, which currently employs 17 full-time workers and 14 part-time employees.

Other changes

K&S has seen many changes in 2013, with new ownership, and by bringing Josh Pirogowicz into the office as a full-time parts manager.

“This will help us serve our customers’ immediate needs for maintenance of their grain handling equipment,” Irwin said.

K&S also has three full crews that serve customers in Indiana, Ohio, western and central Pennsylvania, and New York.

The company also employs a full-time certified service technician for Sukup dryers.

“At K&S, we continue the philosophy that began with Kurt,” Irwin said. “We want to keep our customers returning for expansion projects or parts.

“We have seen strong growth in business the last six years, and our future growth looks very positive,” he added. “We are always looking for new and innovative products in the grain handling industry that will serve our strong and loyal customer base.
