This cake was used for our wedding in 1970.
- 3 C. boiling water
- 2 C. quick oats
- 1 C. butter
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 2 C. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 C. flour
- 2 C. white sugar
- 2 tsp. soda
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp.nutmeg
- Bring water to boil, stir in oatmeal and butteruntil butter is melted. Cover, let stand 5 min.
- Beat eggs. Gradually add brown sugar until smooth.
- Sift together remaining ingredients and add to egg mixture. Blend thoroughly.
- Bake in greased, floured pan for 35 min at 350 degrees until knife comes out clean. NOTE: Use only butter cream frosting.
