Item No. 867

Hello from Hazard!

We received three additional responses on Item No. 867, which we identified in this space last week, but unfortunately none knew that it was an early fish trap (they all suspected it was a trap of some kind, but not that it was used for fish).

Again, our thanks to Jason Michaels for submitting the trap and Michael Rolf for promptly identifying it (which Jason had known all along).

Item No. 868

But we have to repeat the photo of the mystery item shared by John Velegol of Colliers, W.Va., which we showed here first last week. No one submitted a response or even hazard-ed a guess.

Know how Item No. 868 was used? We’d love to hear from you. Write to: Hazard a Guess, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460; or via e-mail to: editorial@farmanddairy.com.

And if you’ve got a Hazard-ous item in your shed, barn or basement, send us a photo or digital photo file, along with a complete description of the item and its use. You can use the contact information above, or even send a photo via our Web site.
