The Holy Bible

Nothing is more pleasing to me as a pastor on a Sunday morning than to see people carrying to church their Bible. It is an indication to me that they have come to church prepared to learn the Word of God.

When I attend a conference or a special meeting I always enjoy having an agenda to follow that provides the necessary instructions to help me understand more clearly why I am there and what I can gain from being there.

“Stand still awhile, that I may show thee the Word of God” I Sam. 9:27.

The Bible will give us the right direction in life if we will take time to read and study it. The Bible may look very nice lying on your coffee table in your home, however, it must be opened and read and its truth must be applied to your family life.

“Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” Psalm 119:11.

The right way of life is given to us in the Holy Bible. There is no other book on earth that is greater than the Bible to show us God’s way for living.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable” II Tim. 3:16. “All that I am I owe to Jesus Christ revealed to me in His divine book” — David Livingstone.

God’s Holy Word the Bible will never die. If we read it faithfully and obey it with all our heart and repent of our sins, it will lead us to eternal life. “Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish” Luke 13:3.

Generations follow generations — yet it lives,

Nations rise and fall — yet it lives,

King, dictators, presidents come and go — yet it lives,

Torn, condemned, burned — yet it lives,

Doubted, suspected, and criticized — yet it lives,

Damned by atheists — yet it lives,

Exaggerated by fanatics — yet it lives

Misconstrued and misstated — yet it lives,

Ranted and raved about — yet it lives,

Its inspiration denied — yet it lives,

Yet it lives as —

a lamp to our feet,

a light to our path,

a standard for childhood,

a guide for youth,

a comfort for the aged,

food for the hungry,

water for the thirsty,

light for the heathen,

salvation for the sinner,

To know it is to love it; to love it is to accept it; to accept it means life eternal.
