Garner’s holds toy show and auction

CARROLLTON, Ohio — The 27th Annual Toy Show and Toy Auction was held Nov. 30 at Garner’s Auction Center, three miles south of Carrollton, Ohio.

The show, which opened with 60 display tables of toys for sale plus two tables with farm layouts, was attended by 360 paid admissions.

Collection

The toy auction featured the Allis Chalmers collection of Phil’s Sales and Service, of Columbiana, Ohio, with 405 lots.

This auction had approximately 290 registered bidders in attendance plus bidders bidding live on www.garnerauctioneers.com from Utah, Montana, Nebraska, Litz, Pa., and Missouri. Buyers in attendance were from Toledo, Dayton, Xenia, Columbus and other areas of Ohio, plus Parkersburg, W.Va., Pennsylvania, New York and two from Canada.

Prices

The prices realized were:

A-C D-21 pedal tractor (only 10 made) at $3400; A-C 1 row pull picker for $1400; A-C self propelled combine at $1600; a A-C flare box wagon for $825; and a Gehl green chopper and wagon sold for $1250.

(All of the above were custom made.)

Other items included a Cockshutt pedal tractor for $1300; A-C D-17 pedal at $1350; a one-eighth scale Oliver 1855 for $600; a Farmall 560 for $300; a John Deere 70 at $400; and an Allis-Chalmers WD-45 for $420.

Also sold was a one-eighth scale J.D. 4010 for $400; a one-eighth scale JD disk that went for $175; and an Oliver flare box wagon sold at $200.

Gleaner combines sold from $190 to $630.

One-sixteenth scale toys were in demand as well. An A-C 7080 with duals sold for $135; an A-C farm set with deluxe barn sold for $325; an A-C pulling tractor went for $150; an A-C 220 sold for $240; an A-C pull rotary mower fetched $100; an A-C D-10 went for $105, an Oliver 1855 and 1955 went for $95 each; and an A-C 180 sold for $65.

An Oliver Super 77 by Slik sold for $130 and an Advance Rumley oil pull went for $140. Pedal cars also sold well with a 1955 Chevrolet going for $400; a Fire Chief for $100; a USAF Jeep at $250; a Good Humor pedal trike for $190; a US Army airplane pedal for $160; and a police car for $100.
