The Independent reports that the European Union is trying to enforce legislation that prohibits fertilizer use on hills that have at least a 15 percent slope. If farmers don’t cooperate, they risk losing government subsidies.
One German farmer’s response probably wasn’t anticipated by the EU: he fitted custom-made cloth diapers on his 18 dairy cows in protest.
