YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – A four-day course for teachers will be conducted from July 16-19. Forest Resources Institute for Teachers is a course being offered in Erie County at Penn State Erie, The Behrend Campus.

The course will provide third through 12th grade teachers – and other educators – information and educational tools to teach a balanced environment and ecology curriculum related to Pennsylvania’s forests and wildlife.

“The long-term objective is to provide youth with the skills and knowledge to recognize, analyze, and make decisions relating to Pennsylvania’s forest resources,” according to Adam Downing, Penn State Extension Agent and course instructor.

The course takes place indoors and outdoors to not only present participants with subject matter information, but also with a variety of teaching tools.

Participants may register to receive two Penn State graduate credits or two IU Graduate Professional Education Credits.

Those interested should contact Adam Downing at 814-563-9388.
