OBERLIN, Ohio — Two alumni of the Lorain County JVS FFA Chapter, Thomas and William Keller, were recently presented with FFA Agricultural Proficiency Awards. These awards are given to members who have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers.

Thomas Keller placed first in state in Diversified Horticulture and William Keller placed second in the state in Diversified Horticulture and third in Turf Grass Management. The Keller brothers are both 2019 Midview graduates who completed the JVS Landscape and Greenhouse Management program and recently completed internships at Morton’s Landscape, in Columbia Station.

Both are attending Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute. Thomas Keller is studying landscape horticulture, while William Keller is studying construction management.

CRESTON, Ohio — Norwayne FFA parked cars and sold 50/50 tickets at Bucking Ohio, Aug. 22. The 50/50 ticket raffle raises money for the chapter, and the chapter raised over $1,300. Winkler Tire matched the money raised, earning the chapter over $2,600.

Norwayne FFA was also the first group to sell tickets this summer. The next Bucking Ohio event is Sept. 19, where FFA members will be parking cars.

The Norwayne FFA officer team held its officer retreat Aug. 13-15. This year’s retreat was held at FFA Camp Muskingum. There, the officer team bonded and learned how to work together, by doing team-building activities, planning events and playing games.
