Hello from Hazard!

OK, well, we’re striking out at the plate, here. Even after two weeks as featured Hazard item, Item No. 862 received no responses from readers (following several weeks of silence on item No. 861, too, we’re starting to get a complex).

Sorry, John Pidcock Sr., we couldn’t help you identify the item you found in a pile of junk. If anyone takes another look and hazards a guess, we’ll share it with readers.

We’ll switch gears and share photos of an item we KNOW (thanks to Reva Montgomery, who shared it with Farm and Dairy).

Take a look and tell us what you think. Write to: Hazard a Guess, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460; or via e-mail to: editorial@farmanddairy.com.

  1. The latest item is a clothes washer – many readers have seen the small ones for delicate garments.

The earlier C-clamp looking thinger looks to be some type of retainer; maybe for holding a spring under tension while another part of the machine is replaced or adjusted.

  2. item no862 if there is a threaded hole at the bottom of the “c” mr pidcock has a beam clamp.they are bolted to exposed i beams in a plant or shop.hangers are screwed into the bottom hole to suspend lights, pipes,or conduit from the ceiling.this one looks to be homemade.commercial ones are made of cast iron and are not as ruggedly as the one shown
