COLUMBUS — Ohio Cattlemen’s Association has been contacted by cattlemen in Texas and other drought-stricken states who are looking to purchase hay.

OCA is working with the Ohio Department of Agriculture to assist these cattle producers by identifying Ohioans who have hay available.

Many Ohio cattlemen, helped in the past by cattle producers from other states, have indicated they are willing to donate hay if the recipient pays the shipping.

If you are interested, email beef@ohiobeef.org or call the OCA office at 614-873-6736 with the following info if you are able to provide assistance: the amount of hay available (tons), age of hay (2011 or 2010 crop),type of hay (grass, etc.), bale type (round bale and weights, or large squares), purchase price or available for donation (recipient pays shipping), name and contact information.

  1. I have 150 4X5 round bales of mixed grass hay consisting of a mixture of orchard grass, timothy, fescue, brome grass, other grasses and a small amount of red clover. I’m asking $25 a bale and have no way to deliver. I can load.
