A roundup of FFA news for the week of Aug. 27, 2009

OBERLIN, Ohio — The Firelands FFA will host chapter alumni and friends for an open house Sept. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will be held in the agricultural science class and lab. Former members are asked to bring their FFA jackets. The oldest jacket will win a prize.

Dessert will be served.

WEST SALEM, Ohio –The Northwestern-Wayne FFA officers attended the district officer training session, which was hosted at the Northwestern High School.

The session was designed to educate each officer on the finer points to being successful with their job and to being part of the team as an FFA officer.

Attendees include Karly Berry, Jerrin Hill, Olivia Stover, Zach Hottel, Adam Krueger, Katryna Ousley, Jessica Wellert, Sabrina Johnson, Tessa Hershey and Alison McGinnis.

Dan Fulk and Heather Tegtmeier attended the session with the students as their advisers.

Marlene Eick, an Ohio State Agriculture recruiter, spoke on how important team work is within an officer team and the specific jobs and duties each and every officer and member has for the chapter.

Officers of the Northwestern FFA traveled to Mohican Adventures Campground in Loudonville Aug. 13-14 for a retreat.

Olivia Stover, Katryna Ousley, Austin Gresser, Karly Berry, Jessica Wellert, Jerrin Hill, Alison McGinnis, Sabrina Johnson, Tessa Hershey, Chris Thomas, and Adam Krueger all attended.

The members and advisers, Dan Fulk and Heather Tegtmeier, spent the day doing team building activities.
