OBERLIN, Ohio — As a part of National FFA Week, Feb. 19-26, Firelands FFA members planned the following events: Barnyard Olympics, John Deere vs. Case Day, Teacher Breakfast, FFA Apparel Day, Tractor Day, Carhartt Day, Petting Zoo and Flannel Friday.

SMITHVILLE, Ohio — Feb. 23, seven members of the Smithville FFA chapter competed in the District 3 Job Interview and Ag Sales Career Development Event at Hillsdale High School.

Katelyn Thut placed second in the junior division, Rachel Howland placed third in the senior division, and Amanda Young placed first in the first-year member division.

Young will represent the Smithville FFA chapter at the state contest on March 5.

The ag sales team consisted of Ellie Kauffman, Breanne Welty, Marie Arnold and Carrie Howland. The students worked on a product development project where they sold dog toys. The team placed third at the district contest.

GNADENHUTTEN, Ohio — Indian Valley FFA members participated in district job interviews, which were held Feb. 8 at BCC. Dalton Sproul placed fourth in division 1, Katheryn Pavick placed 10th in division 2, KaraLin Gray placed firstst in division 3, Laura Johnson placed eighth in division 4 and Ashley Decker placed first in division 5. KaraLin Gray and Ashley Decker made it to the first advance to state March 5.

Officer books were graded Feb. 3. KaraLin Gray received a silver for the reporter scrapbook, Alex Cotsmire got a gold for the treasurer book and Cassie Glazer got a gold for the secretary book. Cotsmire and Glazer will be recognized at state convention May 4.

Public speaking was held Feb. 9. Dalton Sproul placed fourth in creed and received a gold, Coryden Enochs placed fifth in prepared and received a gold and Matt Dauch placed eighth in extemporaneous and received a silver. Dalton and Coryden will receive a plaque and district awards at officers training April 1.
