CANAL FULTON, Ohio — Memorial services were held Oct. 29, 2016, at St. Stephens Martyr Lutheran Church for Dolores Jane (Smith) Hill, founder of Hill’s Supply Inc., who died Oct. 23, 2016.

She was born some 86 years ago in Cartersville, Georgia, and as a toddler she moved with her parents, Roland Smith Sr. and Jane Brock Smith, to Minerva, Ohio. She attended Minerva schools, graduating in 1949.

She married Herbert Hill, a farmer of Greentown, and together they raised a son, David Hill, and daughter, Holly Mayernick, While working as an accountant and raising her children, she also attended Mount Union University and graduated from Malone College, after which she taught economics at Fairless High and Hoover High for 10 years.

Upon the death of her husband, she started Hill’s Supply, Inc, which has grown to provide dairy equipment, supplies and services to all of Ohio and parts of all adjacent states.

In addition to her children, she is also survived by her husband of 22 years, H. Doyle Smith; brother Roland Smith Jr. and sister Susan Hawk. A third sibling, Pat, is deceased.

Memorials can be sent to the Girl Scouts, the Salvation Army, or to St. Stephens Martyr Lutheran Church.
