SALEM, Ohio — Laura Mae (Feicht) Owen, 91, Ellsworth Center, Salem, Ohio, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at the Salem Regional Medical Center.

She was born on October 19, 1922, in Green Township, Mahoning County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles Monroe and Mable Margaret (Less) Feicht. A lifetime area resident of the area, she and her husband Mike were known for the grocery store and gas station on Salem-Warren Road for over 30 years.

She was a member of the Western Reserve Booster Club, Western Reserve PTO, Ellsworth Township Crime Watch, and a member of the Concord Church where she was a deacon, officer and a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Group. She was also active with the Moose Lodge and its functions, and was a card player at the Ala Carte Card Club.

Until 2004, she and her husband would vacation in Webster, Florida, where she also served on the Sumpter County Community patrol.

She is survived by her children, Tom Owen of Salem; Dick Owen, Niles; Harry Owen of Berlin Center; Mike Owen of Canfield; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on December 6, 2008, by her husband Mike, whom she married on October 19, 1942; her sisters, Helen Fishel, Evelyn Kessel, Marie Atkinson and Edith Kappler.

A celebration of life service was held Oct. 4, 2014, at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem, with the Rev. Joyce Reynolds officiating. Burial followed at Hope Cemetery in Salem.
