Roy J. Bowman

NORTH LIMA, Ohio — Roy J. Bowman, 78, of North Lima, died July 2, 2009, at Northside Hospital.

Roy was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Ellsworth to the late Hugh and Ethel (Delfs) Bowman.

Roy was a 1948 graduate of Canfield High School and Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University and member of the American Institute of Banking.

He retired in 1992 as the executive vice president and branch administrator of Mahoning National Bancorp, Inc.

Roy was active with the Canfield Fair, serving it for more than 39 years. He was an 11-year member of the Ellsworth Junior Farmers 4-H and served the Junior Fair Board for four years.

Roy is survived by his wife, the former Verna M. Zimmerman; three children, Diann Bowman of Southington, Linda Eisenbraun of Poland and John Bowman of Brookline, Mass.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lee E. Bowman of Hanoverton.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Dale D. and Randall Bowman.

Funeral services were held July 6 at Mount Olivet United Church of Christ. Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, North Lima Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
