LEETONIA, Ohio — Russell N. Cook, 88, of state Route 558, Leetonia, Ohio, passed away at 1:15 p.m. , May 24, 2010, at his son’s residence from complications of a stroke.

Mr. Cook was born on May 18, 1922, in Fairfield Township., the son of Harley and Bula Baker Cook. He was a dairy farmer owning and operating his own farm, Midway Crest Farms, since 1946. He specialized in registered Holstein cattle.

Mr. Cook was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. He served as an army engineer technical Sgt. in Company C 1394th Engineers Construction Battalion in W.W.II in the Pacific Theater.

He was also a member of the state and national Holstein associations and the Columbiana County Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death on Aug. 26, 1988, by his wife the former Vera V. Ward. They were married Jan. 2, 1943. He is survived by a son Ronald Cook of Leetonia; a sister, Odessa Farmer of Leetonia; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Orel Cook of Columbiana.

Services were held May 28 at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Namy and Rev. Charles Ready officiating. Burial was in Columbiana Cemetery.

The family suggests that material contributions be made to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 state Route 558, New Waterford, OH 44445.
