I'm in the thrift shop business as one of my part-time jobs, so I'm always interested and amazed at the attractive attire a person can find by shopping at second-hand stores.

One would think that amid the tumultuous clutter my family saves, we could find needed materials when school projects roll around.

As for March weather, we should expect the unexpected. When I drive to Salem to the Farm and Dairy offices, I look forward to the sign at Mason's Steak House which cheerfully states that there are less than 20 days till spring.

I enjoy keeping an eye on fashion. Not that I dress so well, but I've always been fascinated by handbags and, impervious to my husband's dismay at my overflowing boxes of footwear, I feel there's definitely a certain shoe that completes the look of every outfit.

I chipped away at the iciest windshield I'd seen in a long time - maybe ever. I wished Kathie's play practice had been canceled like so many other events, but I started the van an hour before we needed to leave just to make sure it would be clear of thick snow piled over a layer of sleet that had iced over the first layer of snow.

This is Kathie's first year of high school. She's always done well in school. This year she involved herself in several extra activities, so I knew keeping up with homework might take extra effort.

Though humans have been enjoying chocolate en masse for a relatively short time, the cacao bean has been around for centuries.

I presided for the first time at a Women's Club meeting and a few of the girls (I'll call us girls even though we're all over 50) had to leave early.

I was up all night New Year's Eve. I've heard you can never really catch up on sleep. A few mornings into the year, I sprang up in bed and blinked in disbelief at the digital clock on the television across the room.

The rain let up on New Year's Eve, leaving the bricks of my brother's new entry patio glistening in the moonlight.
