Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and state ag leaders unveiled the new 177,000-square-foot Ohio Agricultural Center at the Expo Center earlier this week. Part of a $460M renovation, the facility features interactive exhibits and career displays designed to inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders. You can see it all at the Ohio State Fair that opened July 29 and runs through Aug. 9.

The late Herbert L. Stryffeler of Butler Township will be enshrined in the Columbiana County Agriculture Hall of Fame during a ceremony Aug. 4. Stryffeler brought modern milking tech to Columbiana County as the founder of Stryffeler Dairy Service. His daughter recalled how he kept a 24/7 open-door policy at his home, allowing neighboring farmers to come into his basement shop at any hour to pick up spare parts and leave handwritten notes so their operations wouldn't grind to a halt.

Despite a destructive March tornado, the Hardin County Fair will return Sept. 8-13. Recovery is underway to host the vital community and youth 4-H event.
